I am an Indianapolis, Indiana native committed to my family, community and professional career as a college administrator.
I am a proud legacy/great-granddaughter of Founder Vivian Irene White Marbury whom I spent a considerable part of my childhood with. I have so many fond memories with her and our beloved Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated before I even understood what it was. I share the principles and values I grew up in with my own daughters Briana, Brittany, Brandy, and Brooklyn. My grandson Brave will reaps benefits as well.
I LOVE to cook, travel, read, and spend time with my family and friends. My deep admiration of butterflies is likely unhealthy! Being an advocate for social justice and serving others are important pillars to me. My life is guided by the principle of Sankofa - the knowledge of the past will shape my future. I must never forget where I have come from and must share what I know with those coming along behind/beside me.
I believe my background, leadership experiences and life journey intersect well to equip me with the knowledge and skills to serve as Grand Anti-Grammateus.
I actively promote diversity, equity and inclusion efforts on campus and in the community through my role as Vice President & Chief Diversity Officer at Butler University.
In addition to my role, I teach on diversity topics, consult with colleges, businesses and organizations, & facilitate training/dialogues to improve diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. I am the founder and president of Student African American Sisterhood, a 501C3 organization dedicated to supporting women of color in the educational pipeline. SAAS has nearly 20 chapters across the United States. To further support the rights and advancement of women, I was named the 2019 Indiana Ambassador for the United State of Women.
Outside of being known affectionately as "Mamma or Dr. K" among my students, colleagues, and friends, I am most proud of the connections I have made and maintain within the community. I have held progressive leadership roles and participated in numerous national and international professional development opportunities to refine and improve my leadership abilities. I am honored to have my contributions and experiences recognized locally and nationally.
